Game Changer
The Game Changer Challenge is the department’s award-winning design thinking competition. Open to public schools across the state the challenge centres on discovering solutions for a real-world, wicked problem by applying classroom learning.
Maths Olympiad
Maths Olympiad is a prestigious inter-school competition that presents high achieving students with a wide variety of problems, designed to challenge and extend them individually. The aim is to provide a level playing field for all students, while encouraging them to think independently in solving the problems presented.
STEM
Preparing students for the workforce of the future requires fostering responsible, creative thinkers equipped with advanced skills. STEM education at Kingscliff Public School integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in an innovative teaching approach that inspires inquiry-based learning.
Through STEM, teachers guide students to apply their knowledge, explore their world, and tackle authentic, complex problems. By engaging in contextually rich projects, students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills essential for navigating our ever-changing world.
Premier's Debating Challenge
The Premier's Debating Challenge is an annual competition by the NSW Department of Education, offering Years 5 and 6 students a chance to build confidence, critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills.
Students form teams of four to debate a range of topics, developing persuasive communication and reasoning while learning to present and rebut arguments. Teams compete at local, regional, and state levels, fostering healthy competition and camaraderie. With support from teachers and mentors, participants gain invaluable skills through research, strategy, and collaboration.

Stage 2
Social Enterprise Schools - Coastal Academy of STEM Excellence
Kingscliff Public School is participating in Social Enterprise Schools, a program where students tackle an issue, they are keen to help solve. As part of a combined Coastal Academy of STEM Excellence initiative, students will create a business and the profit raised will be donated to a social cause nominated by the students themselves. Along with giving back to their community, students develop their mindsets, skills and behaviours as creators and leaders showing their enterprising, responsible and resilient selves.
